COMMENTS:
During the period of this painting I was
heavily influenced by a certain kind of folk tapestries made by indigenous people
of Guatemala and Honduras which I found in the flea markets and gift shops of New
Orleans. The interplay of color and pattern intrigued me. Maybe part of the
appeal was the perhaps somewhat anal yet improvisatory way in which no space was
left unfilled. |
